Why have world-changing entrepreneurs passionately turned to literature for their groundbreaking innovations? And what can today’s business leaders learn from some of the greatest books ever written? Joseph Luzzi, Bard College Professor of Comparative Literature, will provide “case studies” for effective leadership, idea generation, conflict resolution, and better understanding of commercial cultures from classical literature. His “10 Commandments” for the world of business will analyze how history’s premier minds, from Dante and Machiavelli to Shakespeare, Tolstoy, and Nietzsche, can spark essential entrepreneurial insights for our global marketplace.
Joseph Luzzi has been teaching great works of literature for over a decade and is the author of four books, including My Two Italies and In a Dark Wood: What Dante Taught Me About Grief, Healing and the Mysteries of Love. His essays and reviews have appeared in the New York Times, Times of London, Los Angeles Times, Times Literary Supplement, Bookforum, and American Scholar, among many others. He is the recipient of the Yale College Teaching Prize and is a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice author. Luzzi received his Ph.D. from Yale and has served as a professor at Bard College since 2002.
