Williams at the Movies: The Graduate

This summer film series celebrates notable contributions by Williams College alumni to the feature film industry.  We hope to have some surprise guests along the way, and urge you to consider making an entire evening of it by enjoying a special prix fixe dinner available @ $35.00 pp++ (choose two courses) before and after the movie in the Bar & Grill. 

During the movie, enjoy complimentary popcorn. A concession stand will also be available for sales of beer, wine and soda, mixed nuts, cheese plates, crudités, sliders and warm pretzels starting at 5:30.

The series will be introduced by Professor Jerry Carlson ’72, a film historian and Chair of the Department of Media & Communication Arts at The City College of The City University of New York.

June 28 – The Graduate 

“The Graduate” is a coming of age film that branded a generation of Americans, and was based on the novel by Charles Webb ’61.  “The Graduate” was written in Charles’ senior year, & opens with: “Benjamin Braddock graduated from a small Eastern college on a day in June…”  The film was directed by Mike Nichols and stars Dustin Hoffman, Ann Bancroft, Katharine Ross, and William Daniels, with an iconic soundtrack by Simon & Garfunkel.  It won the Academy Aware for Best Director and was nominated in six other categories.
