Genealogy has boomed in popularity over the past few years, aided by additional access to records and advancements made in consumer DNA testing. D. Joshua Taylor, President of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society and host of the PBS series, “Genealogy Roadshow,” will share essential methodologies and techniques for conducting a thorough and successful genealogical search. Taylor will also discuss important online and offline resources for finding and accessing key genealogical records, emphasizing content that can provide details relating to the lives of our ancestors, beyond basic genealogical facts and information. The discussion will include a review of the controversies and pros and cons of DNA testing alongside guidelines to consider when engaging in DNA testing for genealogical research. In addition, a look at new digital resources will provide insights into the exciting developments expected in the near future.
